Training and HRV status among new features in the latest Garmin software update

Garmin has announced new software and feature updates for select smartwatches, including the fēnix 7 series, epix (Gen 2), Instinct 2 series, and Edge 1040 series of cycle computers.

According to the company, these new features will help customers get the most out of their device, all through a free software version.

Some of the smartwatch features in this software release include:

  • SatIQ: To help maximize battery life, SatIQ will automatically turn multiband GPS on in areas where it’s needed most, like tight canyons or downtown areas with tall buildings, and then turn it off when it is no longer needed to ensure athletes get the most out of it. out of their battery.
  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Status: Track heart rate variability during sleep to better manage recovery and get an overall picture of well-being.
  • Race Widget: See race prep information, including a race day specific performance forecast, race day weather and countdown, all in one widget.
  • Updated Training Status: Using new metrics such as HRV status, recent exercise history, and performance, athletes will receive information on their overall effort and whether they are training well. productive, maximum or tense.
  • Stock Tracking: Track up to 50 stocks – right from the wrist – with the Stocks app – check stocks at a glance to monitor their prices and trends throughout the day.

Some of the bike computer features in this software release include:

  • Music Controls: When paired with a compatible smartphone, control music on the Edge device.
  • Training Status: Using new metrics such as HRV status, recent exercise history, and performance, get an overview of overall effort and whether the workout is productive, peaking, or tense.
  • Intensity Minutes: See when Intensity Minutes have been earned on each ride.
  • Full e-bike support: Connect an ANT or ANT+ compatible e-bike to view personalized e-bike data, adjust assistance levels and see remaining range based on a planned route.

Free software updates are available now. Customers can update their smartwatch or bike computer by enabling automatic updates from their device or by using Garmin Express.
