Software update: Ubuntu 21.10 – PC

I see Ubuntu as an easy / widely accessible Linux distro.

Exactly, there is something more for beginners and converters who do not want to go deeper.

However, I find that if you want to keep up with the new distro every 6 months (or if you use the LTS version less often), you have to install a major drawback. You often have to reinstall apps that you installed yourself after upgrading, and I’ve always had a lot of them (and always had to get rid of them). Linux Mint does not recommend upgrading your system and always advises performing a clean install (then you should always back up and restore your home folder). There is a feature through Debian to instantly update your distro, but it doesn’t seem to be 100% reliable in Ubuntu.

With the mobile version you don’t have this, although you might want to update very carefully if you can’t stand downtime, for example because this is your computer. main job. In this case, in addition to Gentoo and Arch, there are also some interesting options, such as Manjaro, EndeavorOS, Garuda Linux, GhostBSD, Funtoo, Source Mage, Calculate Linux…)
