PS5 System Software Update 22.01-05.50 Patch Notes Today (July 7)

A brand new system software update for the PlayStation 5 (PS5) was rolled out on July 7th. The latest firmware update brings the console to version 22.01-05.50 and includes new video settings as well as system performance improvements.

PlayStation fans have had a jam-packed 24 hours, with Santa Monica Studios finally revealing the release date for their next title, God of War: Ragnarok. Arguably one of the most anticipated titles of the year, Ragnarok will launch for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 9th.

The latest PS5 system software update rolled out on July 7 and comes in at just over 1GB. According to the official patch notes found on the console, here’s what’s new in the latest update:

Main features of this system software update.

  • If you are using a TV that supports ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), you can adjust the ALLM settings in [Settings] > [Screen and Video] > [Video Output] > [ALLM].
  • If you select [Automatic]your TV will automatically switch to low latency mode while you are playing games.
  • If you select [Off]ALLM will not be enabled except during VRR (variable refresh rate) output.
  • This system software update improves system performance.
