How to live stream on Instagram using your computer
If you don’t already have one installed on your computer, download a third-party program to use for Instagram live streaming through your desktop computer. Some of the Instagram recommended apps are streamlabs, OBSand Streamyard. Once you’ve chosen and installed one, you need to go through the app’s settings and make sure the video and audio format specs are set up correctly before recording.
Based on Instagram’s initial testing of functionality, it’s highly recommended to set the video to 16:9 aspect ratio, with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and a frame rate of 30 frames per second. If necessary, Instagram Live Producer can also support a frame rate value of 60 fps, but due to early bugs, the stream may still be seen as 30 fps on the Live Producer preview page. Recommended audio settings include a sample rate of 44.1 kHz and a stereo channel layout. Suggested bitrates for streaming output are 2,250-6,000 Kbps for video and up to 256 Kbps for audio, Instagram says.
According TechCrunch, some features of Instagram Live will not be available through Live Producer, such as comment pinning, access to Q&A sticker responses, fundraising, live shopping, and live rooms. All you can really do through an Instagram live broadcast on desktop is view comments and respond on camera while Live Producer is running. Additionally, there is also no way to add a moderator to a Live Producer live stream, so you will have to manage comments and viewers yourself. This may change in the future, however, as Instagram refines the feature.
